Nacido en 1622 en Par\u00eds, amante de las artes desde muy joven, ya en 1643 formaba parte de un grupo de teatro. Sus s\u00e1tiras sobre la corrupci\u00f3n francesa lo volvieron famoso, pero a la vez generaban controversias con la alta sociedad, la Iglesia y el Rey. Para 1964 igualmente ya era responsable de las diversiones de la Corte y present\u00f3 la obra &#8220;Tartufo&#8221;, en la que denunciaba la hipocres\u00eda religiosa, hecho que hasta sobresalt\u00f3 al Rey, que le prohibi\u00f3 volver a interpretarla. Luego present\u00f3 &#8220;Don Juan&#8221;, y dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, enfermo de tuberculosis dej\u00f3 la actuaci\u00f3n para dedicarse s\u00f3lo a escribir las obras. En 1673 llega a las tablas con &#8220;El enfermo imaginario&#8221;, sobre la vida de un hipocondr\u00edaco.
