El dispositivo, que es&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanacion.com.ar\/tecnologia\/crean-ojo-robotico-funciona-energia-solar-replica-nid2368129\/\">similar a uno propuesto hace unos a\u00f1os por investigadores de la universidad de Hong Kong<\/a>, propone implantar un panel solar dentro del globo ocular, tomando el lugar de la retina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El Dr. Udo Roemer, es un ingeniero que se especializa en energ\u00eda fotovoltaica, y se encuentra en las primeras etapas de la investigaci\u00f3n de c\u00f3mo se puede utilizar la tecnolog\u00eda solar para convertir la luz que ingresa al ojo en electricidad, sin pasar por los fotorreceptores da\u00f1ados del ojo, para transmitir informaci\u00f3n visual al cerebro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El uso de un min\u00fasculo panel solar tiene m\u00faltiples ventajas: el mismo panel solar podr\u00eda convertir la luz que llega al ojo en un impulso el\u00e9ctrico para enviar por el nervio \u00f3ptico al cerebro, y eso simplifica el dise\u00f1o: otras soluciones para revertir la ceguera apelaban a sensores de c\u00e1maras, que requieren una fuente de alimentaci\u00f3n adicional y limitan seriamente su aplicabilidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El Dr. Roemer no es el primero en investigar el uso de c\u00e9lulas solares para ayudar a restaurar la vista. Pero en lugar de centrarse en dispositivos basados en silicio, ha centrado su atenci\u00f3n en otros materiales semiconductores como el arseniuro de galio y el fosfuro de galio e indio, principalmente porque es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil ajustar las propiedades de los materiales. Tambi\u00e9n se utiliza en la industria solar en general para fabricar paneles solares mucho m\u00e1s eficientes, aunque no es tan barato como el silicio para todo uso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPara estimular las neuronas se necesita un voltaje mayor que el que se obtiene de una c\u00e9lula solar\u201d, afirma el Dr. Roemer. \u201cSi imaginamos que los fotorreceptores son p\u00edxeles, entonces realmente necesitamos tres c\u00e9lulas solares para crear suficiente voltaje para enviarlo al cerebro.
